Dirt, rock and far views are subjects that I take from travel, to paint watercolors relying on the experience of place. Since 2011, I have consistently visited Vermont to paint Mt. Mansfield as a trio of watercolors, as well as large, two-layered horizontal vellum scrolls. Repeated visits to the same landscape have produced an interesting chronicle of my perception and allowed for stylistic development of this subject. Landscape imagery is layered with interior elements creating an inside/outside multiple point of view. All paintings on vellum are made with watercolor and graphite on two separate pieces of vellum that are then hand sewn together on the left side. In this way, the underneath layer shows through the top layer in varying degrees.
